BRIM

4.5 mm hook

foundation : ch 7. (work row1 in back bump of the chain stitch)

ROW 1: hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each st across, turn. <6>

ROW 2: ch 1, blo hdc until 1 st left, hdc, turn. <6>

ROWS 3-48: repeat row2.

*the number of rows must be multiples of 4. but you can make an even number as well. in this case, you have to add an extra dc to create multiples of 4 stitches since 3 dc are going to placed for each 2 hdc rows.

Now fold the piece in half, remove hook from current loop, insert hook the corner chain space of foundation row and grap the working loop, pull through and ch 1. Insert again into same space and back loop of the last row, grap the yarn and make a sl st. Continue making sl sts to end by inserting into both loops of foundation row and only back loop of last row.

change hook to 5 mm

turn the right side of the work.

ROW 1: ch 2, work dc 3 for each 2 hdc rows, join with a sl st. (48×1.5=72) <72>

ROW 2: ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st. <72>

ROW 3: ch 2, *dc, sk 2, fptr, dcB 2, repeat from * around, sl st. <72>

ROWS 4-20: repeat rows 2 and 3. (measures 22 cm in total)

ROW 21: ch 2, *dc, sk 2, fptr, dc2togB, repeat from * around, sl st. <54>

ROW 22: ch 2, sk 1, dc (count ch2,sk1,dc as a decrease), dc, *dc2tog, dc, repeat from * around, sl st.  <27>

ROW 23: ch 2, sk 1, dc(count ch2,sk1,dc as a decrease), dc2tog until end, sl st, ch 1, leave a long tail and cut the yarn.

Weave your yarn in and out around the dc stitches to close the top of hat. Pull gently, secure the yarn. Attach your faux fur pom pom or you can use one you made.
